Volleyball Game Preview: Greencastle Tiger Cubs vs. Covenant Christian Warriors

After both having extra time off, the Greencastle Tiger Cubs and the Covenant Christian Warriors will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Greencastle will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

Greencastle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on South Vermillion with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Meilani York went supernova, getting 17 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

York wasn't the only good servers: Greencastle was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 13 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Covenant Christian posted their closest win since September 17th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

Greencastle's win bumped their record up to 29-4. As for Covenant Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 18-11.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: Greencastle has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10 aces per game. However, it's not like Covenant Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Greencastle came up short against Covenant Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2016, falling 2-0. Can the Tiger Cubs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
