Baseball Recap: Southside Comes Up Short

Southside lost against Winn back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 4-2.

Southside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eddie Villazana, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Southside's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-14. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.4 runs. As for Winn, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Southside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Winn, they will head out on the road to take on Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Bears will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Mavericks surely won't give up without a fight.
