Basketball Recap: Cahokia Comes Up Short

Cahokia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 77-22 loss at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Rams. While losing is never fun, the Comanches can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while the Rams are ranked 23rd).

Among those leading the charge was Autumn Rudd, who posted 18 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Paige Powers was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Cahokia's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Mt. Vernon, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Althoff Catholic the next time they take the court. Mt. Vernon will head out to face Althoff Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Cahokia will host them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
