Baseball Recap: La Jolla Country Day Finds Playoff Glory Versus Point Loma

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only La Jolla Country Day walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Point Loma Pointers on Wednesday. The Torreys haven't had any issues with the Pointers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Elias Hanley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because La Jolla Country Day is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Norum, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

La Jolla Country Day's victory bumped their record up to 18-12. As for Point Loma, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-12-1.

Looking ahead, La Jolla Country Day will face off against Cathedral Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Torreys 3.7, the Dons 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Point Loma does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
