Basketball Game Preview: Charlestown Pirates vs. Clarksville Generals

Charlestown and Clarksville are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Charlestown Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Clarksville Generals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Charlestown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Clarksville likes a good challenge.

Charlestown will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Scottsburg, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Charlestown walked away with a 62-49 win over Scottsburg on Friday.

Anthony Fresh went supernova for Charlestown, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 15 boards. Demetrius Phelps was another key player, going 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Clarksville played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Christian Academy, falling 67-36. The Generals have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Clarksville's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2. As for Charlestown, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Charlestown was able to grind out a solid victory over Clarksville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 49-40. Will Charlestown repeat their success, or does Clarksville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
