Ten seniors who have put up impressive statistics and led their teams to state and national prominence highlight the MaxPreps 2018 Midseason Player of the Year Watch List.

The players come from schools as large as The Woodlands (Texas) with 4,400 students to tiny Painstville (Ky.) with an enrollment of less than 400.

Included in the list are 2017 National Junior of the Year Gabby Gonzales, Walton (Marietta, Ga.) and 2016 National Sophomore of the Year Ellie Holzman, Mt. Carmel Academy (New Orleans).

All but two of the players have led their team to high national rankings this season and each has committed to play collegiately at the FBS level.

Three are middles, three are outside hitters, two are setters and one is a libero. One player, Kenzie Knuckles, Yorktown (Ind.) was selected as an all-around athlete. She is a six-rotation player bound for Nebraska and her statistics speak for themselves.

The players range in height from 6-4 Gonzales and 6-4 Molly Phillips of Mansfield (Rowe, Texas) to 5-6 Georgia Murphy of The Woodlands. Indiana, Texas and Kentucky have two players each on the 2018 Watch List.

Players not on this midseason list are not excluded from postseason honors consideration. There were a handful of juniors and seniors close to making the cut of 10, but these players are receiving the most recognition as teams hit the regular season stretches and prepare for the postseason.
