Football Recap: Midland Christian Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Midland Christian couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were dealt a 48-15 loss at the hands of the Regents Knights on Friday. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Even if they lost, Midland Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from Brady Young: he picked up a sack, made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Jack Devine continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Regents, throwing for 230 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 114 yards and one score while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Devine has been hot for a while, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last ten times he's played. Kade Millington was another key player, picking up 94 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The defeat snapped Midland Christian's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record. As for Regents, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Midland Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Regents, they will challenge All S at 7:06 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Saints have now posted at least 31 points in their last nine matchups.
