Baseball Recap: West Ottawa Victorious

11 must be West Ottawa's lucky number: they beat East Kentwood with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Panthers beat the Falcons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. Considering the Panthers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Quinn VanderKamp tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Trevyn Bethke was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Jake Wagner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

West Ottawa hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.

The win got West Ottawa back to even at 8-8. As for East Kentwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

West Ottawa will head out to take on Forest Hills Central at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Kentwood will be paying especially close attention to the Panthers' contest: after the Panthers face off against the Rangers, they'll take on East Kentwood again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
