Baseball Recap: ALA - Gilbert North Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

ALA - Gilbert North got themselves on the board against Eastmark on Thursday, but Eastmark never followed suit. They blew past the Firebirds 15-0. Considering the Eagles have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Braden Maine tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Genet, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Genet, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory was the seventh in a row for ALA - Gilbert North, bringing their record up to 12-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Eastmark, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. ALA - Gilbert North will square off against Centennial at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.6, the Coyotes 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Eastmark, they will challenge Combs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
