Recap: Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles vs. Lakeland Lakers
It was a good run, but the Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were outmatched by Lakeland on the road and fell 65-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Elkhart Christian Academy has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Elkhart Christian Academy had strong showings from Aiden Hibbard, who scored 17 points along with three steals, and LJ Bevier, who scored 12 points. That was a full 45.9% of Elkhart Christian Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Nate Keil was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and two blocks for Lakeland. Keil hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Kyle Hartsough, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Elkhart Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Lakeland, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhart Christian Academy will take on South Bend Career Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Bend Career Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Lakeland, they will be playing at home against Garrett at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Garrett will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 348th, while Lakeland is ranked 133rd).
