Recap: Screven County Gamecocks vs. Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines
In what's become a running theme this season, the Screven County Gamecocks gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 56-26 victory over Woodville-Tompkins. The high-flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Screven County considering their 13-point performance the game before.
Leading Screven County to victory were Rayven Tyler and Alailah Scott. Tyler scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Scott scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Tyler is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Jaliah Roberts, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Woodville-Tompkins saw an underclassman step up: Cassidy Freeman scored 12 points along with seven blocks and four steals.
Screven County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Woodville-Tompkins, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Screven County will face off against Metter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Screven County is coming into the game with four straight wins on the road, meaning Metter will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Woodville-Tompkins, they will challenge Hilton Head Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hilton Head Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Woodville-Tompkins in their respective states (Hilton Head Christian Academy is ranked 49th in South Carolina, while Woodville-Tompkins is ranked 314th in Georgia).
