Basketball Recap: Catholic Central Falls Despite Big Games from Danaysha Dearmond and Liliana Roberts

Catholic Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 50-28 to the Southeastern Local Trojans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-16 back in December of 2024.

Liliana Roberts and Danaysha Dearmond certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Roberts posted 11 points and five boards, while Dearmond had 11 points and six rebounds. Meyer Webster also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Catholic Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3 offensive rebounds per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.1.

Catholic Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Southeastern Local, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Catholic Central has already played their next game, a 54-27 defeat against Madison Plains on the 27th. As for Southeastern Local, they will venture away from home to challenge Jonathan Alder at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Southeastern Local is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
