Basketball Game Preview: Millersport Lakers vs. Madison Christian Eagles

The Millersport Lakers will venture away from home to face off against the Madison Christian Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.

Millersport is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Liberty Union on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Millersport was outmatched by Liberty Union and fell 80-23. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 662nd, while the Lions are ranked 216th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Emma Raver, who posted three points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Atkinson, who earned nine points.

Meanwhile, Madison Christian waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cougar 57-11. That looming 57-11 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Madison Christian pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.0 points over those games. As for Millersport, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Millersport and Madison Christian were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but Millersport came up empty-handed after a 41-40 loss. Can Millersport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
