Softball Game Preview: John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers vs. Northside Rams

The John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers will face off against the Northside Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

John Carroll Catholic made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Montevallo, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cavaliers blew past the Bulldogs 11-1 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cavaliers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Meanwhile, Northside earned a 6-1 win over Sipsey Valley on Tuesday.

Baylee Appling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aiden Sharbutt, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Sharbutt, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Northside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in 11 consecutive contests.

John Carroll Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Northside, their win bumped their record up to 16-11-1.

Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. John Carroll Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Northside struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
