Basketball Recap: King's Christian's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

If King's Christian was riding high fresh off their 59-38 takedown of St. Michael the Archangel last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The King's Christian Knights took a 28-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 40-25.

King's Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lily Welsh, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 13 points, and Angelina Alicea, who posted four points in addition to 11 boards and three steals. Welsh is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

The Pilgrim Academy's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabella Cosme, who put up six points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Cosme has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Brittin, who had nine points and four steals.

King's Christian's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-6. As for The Pilgrim Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

King's Christian will head out to face off against Atlantic Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for The Pilgrim Academy, they will welcome Pinelands Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
