Baseball Game Preview: Rocky River Ravens vs. Butler Bulldogs

Rocky River is 0-10 against Butler since April of 2021 but things could change on Friday. Rocky River will take on Butler at 6:00 p.m. Rocky River has given up an average of 19.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rocky River is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Butler, falling 24-7. One positive for the Ravens, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

For Butler's part, Jackson Clark looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clark also tossed a walk, which is notable because Butler is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Decurtis, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Ethan Chryst, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one triple.

Butler was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive games.

Butler has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. Rocky River's loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
