Softball Game Preview: Fulton Steamers vs. East Dubuque Warriors

The Fulton Steamers will challenge the East Dubuque Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Fulton took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Orion, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Steamers have posted since March 27th.

Meanwhile, East Dubuque got themselves on the board against Fulton, but Fulton never followed suit. They skirted past the Steamers 1-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Fulton's batters probably weren't too happy with Curin Oberman, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up two walks). Oberman has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

Fulton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for East Dubuque, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.
