MaxPreps breaks down the nation's biggest game of the week.

De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) at Trinity (Euless, Texas)

Why it's big: De La Salle has six national championships since the mid-1990s and plenty of wins over big-time teams from outside California, but this is its first test against Texas. The Spartans are the preseason No. 1 team in California and also tops in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25.

This is Trinity's first regular-season game since 2000 without retired head coach Steve Lineweaver, who guided the program to three state titles and national prominence. Not to worry, the Trojans' vaunted power rushing attack looked like business as usual in a preseason scrimmage last week, racking up over 200 yards in a 31-19 win against Guyer (Denton).

Names to watch: Senior Devin Asiasi (6-foot-5, 260 pounds), rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports, gives De La Salle a tough and athletic presence at tight end and defensive end. Fellow four-star Boss Tagaloa (6-3, 295) anchors the offensive and defensive lines. The Spartans' top skill player is three-star running back Antoine Custer, who ran for nearly 2,000 yards and averaged over 10 yards per carry last season.

Led by four-star defensive tackle Chris Daniels (6-3, 299) Trinity is well-fortified up front, as usual. Its top offensive threat is three-star running back Ja'Ron Wilson.
