Pyramid Lake is 0-9 against Wells since April of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The Lakers will venture away from home to face off against the Leopards at 10:00 a.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Pyramid Lake and Virginia City have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Lakers blew past the Muckers 15-3. The victory continues a trend for the Lakers in their matchups with the Muckers: they've now won three in a row.
John Kelly and William Darrough were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kelly pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Darrough pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Kelly also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pyramid Lake is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise. At bat, Kelly went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Darrough got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Kelly has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Floyd Shaw, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Jackson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Pyramid Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Virginia City only posted an OBP of .296.
Meanwhile, Wells entered their tilt with Carlin on Tuesday with 11 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 12. They put the hurt on the Railroaders with a sharp 20-2 win. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matches by six runs or more this season.
Gage Uhlig was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Miguel Martinez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Wells pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pyramid Lake, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pyramid Lake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wells struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Pyramid Lake suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Wells in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Lakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
