Basketball Game Preview: Mildred Eagles vs. Wortham Bulldogs

The Mildred Eagles will square off against the Wortham Bulldogs at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, Mildred came up short against Frost and fell 37-29. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1389th, while the Polar Bears are ranked 522nd).

Meanwhile, Wortham played a tough contest last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 43-18 to Italy. The Bulldogs were down 34-12 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Mildred has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Wortham, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Everything came up roses for Mildred against Wortham in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 60-11 win. In that match, Mildred amassed a halftime lead of 36-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
