Baseball Recap: Granbury Picks Up Fifth Straight Win on the Road

While Granbury put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Azle. The Pirates put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 12-0 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Levi Martinez and Easton Bleeker made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Martinez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bleeker didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Martinez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Martinez scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Bleeker went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Hudson Hamilton was a standout: he scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Blake Bramlett also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Granbury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Azle only posted an OBP of .190.

Granbury's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Azle, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Granbury will head out to face off against Brewer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Azle, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Richland at 7:30 p.m.
