Volleyball Recap: Havelock Rams vs. Swansboro Pirates
Havelock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Swansboro Pirates, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
While Havelock was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-18.
Swansboro can attribute much of their success to Maddie Staley, who had 13 digs and two aces. Those 13 digs gave Staley a new career-high.
Havelock's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Swansboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
Coincidentally, Havelock and Swansboro will both be playing Northside - Jacksonville the next time they take the court. The Pirates will host the Monarchs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rams will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
