On Wednesday Somers's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the John Jay Indians. The one-run effort marked the Tuskers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Emily Boyle, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep John Jay off the board. Boyle has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Somers' win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Peanamanda, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. Peanamanda is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Somers' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for John Jay, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Somers will face off against Brewster at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for John Jay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Port Richmond at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
