Softball Game Preview: Ogden Tigers vs. Union Cougars

Ogden is 0-3 against Union since March of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Ogden came into this matchup off a tough 13-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Layton by a score of 13-11 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since March 15th.

Aracely DeLeon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Waddell, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Union never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Carbon with a sharp 10-0 victory. Considering the Cougars have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ailey Burgess was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Charlee Kesler, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Ogden and nudges their season record down to 5-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Union, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
