Softball Recap: Antigo Beats Lakeland for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Antigo entered their tilt with Lakeland on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Thunderbirds by a score of 6-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-0 back in April.

Bethany Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Ava Cornelious was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season.

Antigo's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Lakeland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8.

Looking ahead, Antigo is taking a road trip to take on Medford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Robins 3.2, the Raiders 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Lakeland, they will welcome Northland Pines at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunderbirds are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
