Fayette Ware triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Quaylan Hampton

Recap: Fayette Ware Wildcats vs. Sacred Heart of Jesus Knights

The Fayette Ware Wildcats waltzed into Saturday's contest with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 69-51 victory over Sacred Heart of Jesus. Given Fayette Ware's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Sacred Heart of Jesus is ranked 169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Quaylan Hampton was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Eric Jones, who scored ten points along with four steals.

Sacred Heart of Jesus lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Justin Gaines, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Gaines. A J Morman was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five assists.

Fayette Ware's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Sacred Heart of Jesus, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Fayette Ware will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against White Station at 7:30 p.m. Sacred Heart of Jesus and Middleton will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Middleton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50 points per game.
