Basketball Recap: Rhea County Takes a Loss

After soaring to 62 points the game before, Rhea County was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They took a blow against the Cleveland Blue Raiders, falling 78-25. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

It was another big night for Lauren Hurst, who shot 5-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double with 31 points and 11 boards for Cleveland. Hurst is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games she's played. Ilianis Rodriguez was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to eight assists and five steals.

Rhea County's defeat dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Cleveland, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rhea County will face off against East Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cleveland, they will square off against Howard Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cleveland is facing Howard Tech at the right time seeing as Howard Tech is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
