Recap: Concord Spiders vs. Mooresville Blue Devils
After a string of three wins, the Concord Spiders's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mooresville. While losing is never fun, Concord can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Mooresville is ranked 105th).
Concord lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaden Reid, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Jeremiah Howard was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Concord's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Mooresville, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Concord will be home for the holidays to greet West Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Rowan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Concord likes a good challenge. Mooresville will be home for the holidays to greet South Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Mecklenburg is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
