Baseball Game Preview: South Warren Spartans vs. Bowling Green Purples

For the second straight game, South Warren will face off against Bowling Green. The Spartans will face off against the Purples at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Warren will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

South Warren is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Bowling Green, who was ranked 17th at the time (South Warren was ranked sixth). The Spartans came out on top against the Purples by a score of 8-5 on Monday.

South Warren got a great performance from Mikey Coradini as he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Coradini has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gray Pearson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Griffin Rardin, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

South Warren pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Bowling Green, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Warren has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game.
