Baseball Recap: Psalms Christian Academy Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Psalms Christian Academy proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Acadiana Christian Defenders 9-8.

Nick Lirette made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Psalms Christian Academy let Timothy Rodriguez and Jonah Costner run wild. Rodriguez scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Costner went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Psalms Christian Academy pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Acadiana Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Psalms Christian Academy has already played their next contest, a 14-4 loss against Acadiana Christian on the 4th. As for the Defenders, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-4 defeat against Christian Home Educators Fellowship on the 7th.
