The Lamesa Tornadoes will venture away from home to square off against the Crane Cranes at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lamesa will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Compass Academy on Tuesday. The Tornadoes were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Compass Academy.
Jonah Muniz spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Lamesa is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 8-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Isaak Flores and Xavier Zorola did most of the damage at the plate: Flores went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run, while Zorola got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Flores a new career-high. Adam Garcia was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Lamesa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Compass Academy only posted an OBP of .192.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Crane ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Coahoma 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Cranes sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Lamesa's record is now 10-11. As for Crane, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Lamesa was able to grind out a solid win over Crane in their previous matchup back in March, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tornadoes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
