Baseball Recap: South Fork Wins Going Away Against Okeechobee

South Fork won the last time they faced Okeechobee and things went their way on Tuesday too. The South Fork Bulldogs walked away with a 7-3 win over the Okeechobee Brahmans. That four run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Jackson Turull looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Fork is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Jason Dennis and Eli Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Dennis scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Dennis has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Will Vining, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for South Fork and bumps their season record up to 3-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 10.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only 4.17 in the others. As for Okeechobee, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.

Looking ahead, South Fork will be playing in front of their home fans against Sebastian River at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Fork's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Sebastian River's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Okeechobee, they will venture away from home to challenge Lake Placid at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Okeechobee is facing Lake Placid at the right time seeing as Lake Placid is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
