Preview: Riverview Sarasota Rams vs. Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons
The Riverview Sarasota Rams will be playing at home against the Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Riverview Sarasota's strategy against Sarasota on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Riverview Sarasota blew Sarasota out of the water with a 48-6 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-3.
Riverview Sarasota found their leader in underclassman Isaiah Belt, who rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Belt was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards. Dj Johnson was another key contributor, rushing for 140 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last matchup, Charlotte made sure to put some points up on the board against Ida Baker on Friday. Charlotte simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ida Baker 44-7 on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Charlotte just coasted through the last quarter.
Charlotte's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aaronte Wesley, who rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns, and Logan Flaherty, who threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns.
Riverview Sarasota now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Charlotte, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Everything went Riverview Sarasota's way against Charlotte in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as Riverview Sarasota made off with a 41-21 win. Will Riverview Sarasota repeat their success, or does Charlotte have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
