Recap: Southampton Academy Raiders vs. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights
The Southampton Academy Raiders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot by a score of 67-54. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Southampton Academy also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southampton Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than G Applewhite, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. Applewhite hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 19 straight games. Another player making a difference was H Hurst, who scored nine points along with seven steals.
Southampton Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Southampton Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-20 victory vs. Amelia Academy on the 9th. Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot has also already played their next matchup, a 61-38 defeat against Banner Christian on the 9th.
