Soccer Recap: Northumberland Comes Up Short

Northumberland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 4-2 to the Westmoreland Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Westmoreland this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Wednesday.

Emma Kimball and Layla Cordova scored both of Northumberland's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Northumberland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Westmoreland, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northumberland will welcome Mathews at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northumberland will be up against Mathews' rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.89 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Westmoreland, they will look to defend their home pitch on Wednesday against West Point at 5:30 p.m.
