Baseball Recap: Chico Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Chico ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Pleasant Valley Vikings 5-4. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Chico got a great performance from Carter Miles as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, Miles posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four games.

On the hitting side, Miles Humbert and Jaden Neugebauer did most of the damage at the plate: Humbert went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Neugebauer went 2-for-6 with one triple and one RBI. Jaxxon Tweedt was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Chico's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-1. As for Pleasant Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.

The teams wasted no time getting back out on the field as they've already faced off again: they played to a 2-2 tie later that day.
