Baseball Recap: Chico Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Chico ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Pleasant Valley Vikings 5-4. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Carter Miles tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four matches.

At the plate, Jaden Neugebauer and Miles Humbert did most of the damage at the plate: Neugebauer went 2-for-6 with one triple and one RBI, while Humbert went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Jaxxon Tweedt was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Chico kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Chico's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-1. As for Pleasant Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chico beat the Vikings by a score of 4-2 later that day.
