Soccer Game Preview: Joel Barlow vs. New Fairfield + How To Watch

The Joel Barlow Falcons will challenge the New Fairfield Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Joel Barlow's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Joel Barlow fell victim to Bethel and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Joel Barlow can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut soccer rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Bethel are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, New Fairfield beat Nonnewaug 5-3 on Saturday. That's two games straight that New Fairfield have won by exactly two goals.

They hit Nonnewaug with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from James Dobransky (2), Hudson Schaefer, Gavin Spanger, and Colin Hood.

New Fairfield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three matches. As for Joel Barlow, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11-1.

Joel Barlow skirted past New Fairfield 1-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
