Softball Recap: Gurdon Go-Devils vs. Dierks Outlaws
Gurdon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell just short of the Dierks Outlaws by a score of 13-12. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Sadie Griffin put in work no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Griffin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk every time she's pitched this season. Griffin was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Mollie Cox made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Goldee McGalliard, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and an RBI.
Gurdon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Dierks, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Gurdon will head out on the road to face off against Fordyce at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Fordyce is coming into the match with four straight losses at home, meaning Gurdon will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Dierks will take on Horatio at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
