Volleyball Recap: Northmor Golden Knights vs. Centerburg Trojans

If Northmor was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Elgin last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northmor Golden Knights took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centerburg Trojans on Tuesday. The Golden Knights have struggled against the Trojans recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Northmor started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 25-17, 25-13, 25-11.

Despite the loss, Northmor still got an impressive performance from Kallie Wright, who had 16 digs. Wright is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last nine games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Trainer, who had five digs and three aces.

Centerburg can attribute much of their success to Molly Kain, who had 12 digs and three aces.

Northmor's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Centerburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northmor will head out to take on Loudonville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northmor is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Centerburg, they will venture away from home to face off against Fredericktown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Fredericktown sitting on seven straight wins and Centerburg on eight.
