Football Recap: Hooks Find Success

The Hooks Hornets didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Timpson Bears on Friday, but they still walked away with a 34-28 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

It was another big night for Ripken Birdwell, who threw for 377 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 34 yards and one score. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Preston Nickolson was Birdwell's top target, picking up 109 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Hooks now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Timpson, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Hooks and Timpson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Hornets will challenge Hughes Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (449 vs. 1035). Meanwhile, Timpson (ranked 492nd) will meet Hemphill (ranked 1037th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
