Baseball Recap: Canton Comes Up Short

Canton fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Sugar Valley Rural on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Phoenix.

Canton saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Holden Ward, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Sugar Valley Rural, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-9.

While Canton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
