Soccer Game Preview: Cohoes vs. Schalmont

Cohoes is 0-10 against Schalmont since September of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Tigers will challenge the Sabres at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Cohoes took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand La Salle Institute a 3-0 shutout. The score was close at halftime, but Cohoes pulled away in the second half with two goals.

They hit La Salle Institute with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kaylee Guire, Maria Frank, and Eliana Reyes.

Meanwhile, Schalmont had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.6 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. Everything went their way against the Knights as they made off with an 8-0 victory. Schalmont might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by three goals or more this season.

Schalmont's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Cohoes, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Cohoes suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Schalmont in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
