Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ella Elsen and Malia Mcmanus Lead Lake Zurich to Victory

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Lake Zurich and Proviso West, and Lake Zurich kept the tradition alive. The Bears came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Lake Zurich was: they took both sets by at least 15 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-7.

Leading Lake Zurich to victory were Malia McManus and Ella Elsen. McManus had ten digs and two aces, while Elsen had five aces and four assists. That's the most aces Elsen has posted since back in August of 2024. Luize Bibere also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Lake Zurich was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. They are a perfect 8-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Lake Zurich's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Proviso West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Lake Zurich will take on Warren Township at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Proviso West, they will square off against Evergreen Park at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
