Baseball Recap: St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Find Success

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy let Catholic Central stack four runs on them in the fourth inning on Tuesday but luckily St. John's Northwestern Military Academy prevailed anyway. The Lancers skirted past the Hilltoppers 7-5. With that victory, the Lancers brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Matthias Ericksen made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. John's Northwestern Military Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-5 otherwise. Ericksen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Ericksen wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grady Braaten, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Braaten has hit this season.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Catholic Central, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hilltoppers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
