Land O' Lakes is 8-2 against Wiregrass Ranch since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Gators will face off against the Bulls at 7:00 p.m. Land O' Lakes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Land O' Lakes had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Academy at the Lakes on Tuesday. The Gators were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Wildcats. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Jaila Mitchell, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Haley Browne also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Land O' Lakes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Wiregrass Ranch had already won 16 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it 17 on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Sharks.
Chloe Troupe was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Troupe, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Wiregrass Ranch's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Land O' Lakes, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Land O' Lakes hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Wiregrass Ranch struggles in that department as they've averaged .386. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
