Basketball Recap: Loomis Takes a Loss

Loomis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 69-36 loss at the hands of the Elm Creek Buffaloes. The Wolves were not able to make up for their loss to the Buffaloes from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Loomis saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sophia Schemper posted 13 points and seven rebounds.

Elm Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryann Erickson, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Erickson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Knapp, who went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points.

Loomis' loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Elm Creek, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Loomis will square off against Arapahoe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elm Creek, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 57-26 victory against Centura on the 11th.
