Basketball Game Preview: Cumberland Academy Knights vs. Gilmer Buckeyes

The Cumberland Academy Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Gilmer Buckeyes at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Cumberland Academy is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They took a blow against Carthage, falling 58-24.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 46-15, which was the final score in Gilmer's tilt against Chapel Hill on Tuesday. The contest marked the Buckeyes' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Cumberland Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Gilmer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-18.

Cumberland Academy was dealt a bruising 78-19 loss at the hands of Gilmer in their previous meeting back in February of 2019. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cumberland Academy was down 38-13.
