Baseball Recap: Lakeland Christian Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

With a playoff win on the line, Lakeland Christian rose to the challenge on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Master's Academy Eagles 6-5. The Vikings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Alex Arthur tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Byrd, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Nathan Diaz was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lakeland Christian is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Master's Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-8.
