Softball Game Preview: San Antonio Christian Lions vs. St. Joseph Flyers

San Antonio Christian is 0-7 against St. Joseph since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Flyers at 6:00 p.m. San Antonio Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

San Antonio Christian will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against St. Anthony on Monday. The Lions put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 14-4 victory. Considering the Lions have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph entered their tilt with Hebbronville on Friday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Longhorns, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Flyers have posted since February 27th.

St. Joseph's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jazmyn Gamez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

St. Joseph pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for San Antonio Christian, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. San Antonio Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
