Basketball Game Preview: Pike Valley Panthers vs. Thunder Ridge Longhorns

The Pike Valley Panthers will challenge the Thunder Ridge Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thunder Ridge took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pike Valley, who comes in off a win.

Pike Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Rock Hills on Friday. Pike Valley slipped by Rock Hills 45-44.

Pike Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andrew Cooper led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Ezra Benne, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Thunder Ridge lost to Lakeside on the road by a 52-37 margin on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost five in a row.

Thunder Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Pike Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.

Everything went Pike Valley's way against Thunder Ridge in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Pike Valley made off with a 61-36 win. Will Pike Valley repeat their success, or does Thunder Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
